To support Hungarian culture and the arts, the postal administration issued a four-denomination commemorative stamp set and a souvenir sheet in 1941. Following a limited invitation-only competition, the jury recommended György Konecsni’s design for production.
The set and the imperforate souvenir sheet were sold with a 100% surcharge. Both had a face value and surcharge of 52+52 fillér. The 52-fillér surcharge on each set and souvenir sheet was used by the postal administration to support the “Relief and Pension Institution of the National Association of Hungarian Fine Artists” and the “For Hungarian Art” movement.
